 1) The Lion King  2)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SKinxbXq28 As the scene introduces the road men, you can tell that they are the main characters/ protagonists of the series and when they introduce the homeless couple , you can see that they are the going to be the doners or the helpers of the series. You can see this because of how the road men are the first characters to be introduced and the way they are standing in a group. The homeless couple are seen to already try to help the gang to get something but the way the gang spoke to them shows authority and dominance, showing they are the protagonists   of the series. Task 1 Media fact-sheet 03 1) Visual iconographies are important to identify a genre 2) An example of the importance of narrative in identifying genre is the women sitting behind the desk is not genre specific but the background would make people associate it with a TV broadcast. 3) Bordwell says film can be categorised by genre, mode of film practise and 4 levels of meaning. 4) Audiences use genre to anticipate whether they are likely to enjoy a text or not, compare texts through shared characteristics or to reject a text. 5) Producers use genre for production, attracting audiences and marketing texts. structuralism and post-structuralism

Part 1 1) Structuralism = a theoretical perspective that emphasises the existence of universal structures underlying the surface differences and assumed randomness of various cultures, stories and media texts. 2)  The binary oppositions are  the messages around 2 directly contrasting concepts, ideas or characters to create conflict, drama and meaning. 3)   Genre and auteur theory link to structuralism because they are also examples of a structuralist way of analysing texts.  4)   Post-structuralism = how external structures can affect meaning. For example, post-structural analysis may look at how attitudes towards gender or ethnicity in society affect the audiences' understanding of a text and the meaning it generates. 5)  In mt opinion, it is a combination of both which take part in what the audience may perceive and understand, also how they look at it and what they decide to take in.
