1) Visual iconographies are important to identify a genre
2) An example of the importance of narrative in identifying genre is the women sitting behind the desk is not genre specific but the background would make people associate it with a TV broadcast.
3) Bordwell says film can be categorised by genre, mode of film practise and 4 levels of meaning.
4) Audiences use genre to anticipate whether they are likely to enjoy a text or not, compare texts through shared characteristics or to reject a text.
5) Producers use genre for production, attracting audiences and marketing texts.

General

1) My favourite marvel film
2) Superhero genre
3) Very heavy on violence and action
4) Subject matter = infinity stones, Basic themes =  good vs evil
5) Very typical because it is filled with superheroes where they battle a villain
6) I have the expectations of a big fight between the heroes and villains, and also have the expectations that the heroes win.

8) Action = protagonist vs antagonist, sci-fi = infinity stones, space sci-fi = spaceships and fights in different planets, adventure = travelling to space
9) Significant stretch by showing the villain as the central antagonist and the heroes catastrophic defeat at the end of the film.
10) The villain in a superhero film succeeds and defeats the heroes, which departs from general conventions because in a superhero film, the heroes generally defeat the villain.
11)  When the heroes lose and the population goes half extinct, it can be seen as tragedy.

Mode of address

1) The movie was aimed at teens and adults because of the action genre including violence and fighting
2) My gender and age are assumed to love action, mystery, crime and romance
3) It assumes we love fighting and violence

Relationship to other texts

1) It has references from previous marvel movies such as: Bifrost and Asgardian distress call from the Thor film, also mentions 'Ben & Jerry's' ice-cream flavour 'Tony Stark'
2) It resembles closely to all the marvel cinematic movies especially 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'
3) These texts are all superhero film that are linked with the same story line and include the same characters.
4) The major differences are the antagonists, they all face different villains.
