As the scene introduces the road men, you can tell that they are the main characters/ protagonists of the series and when they introduce the homeless couple , you can see that they are the going to be the doners or the helpers of the series. You can see this because of how the road men are the first characters to be introduced and the way they are standing in a group. The homeless couple are seen to already try to help the gang to get something but the way the gang spoke to them shows authority and dominance, showing they are the protagonists of the series. This scene shows equilibrium where there is no upset of the harmony of the scene as of yet and looks to follow a linear pattern.

5) When binary oppositions conflict, the winner often represents the dominant ideas and values of our culture. For example, when a policeman catches a criminal in a crime drama, the ideology of the value of law and order is emphasised.

6) Enigma codes refer to a mystery in a text which makes the audience actively participate in trying to figure out the mystery involved. The suspense and curiosity and also the satisfaction of the resolution could create gratification for the audience. Action codes refers to an action scene or scenes are taking place. This creates suspense and tension for the audience and the satisfaction of a villain or antagonist getting defeated.

7) Episodic narrative - There is a story or conflict resolved in 1 episode.

Overarching narrative - There is a story or conflict that carries throughout a season or seasons.

Mixed narrative - combines an episodic narrative and overarching narrative that develops across the series.

8) Adverts use narrative to propose a problem and a solution which is usually the product they are trying to sell. Often adverts set up a problem and immediently offer a solution. For example the problem is bad breath and the solution is the toothpaste they are trying to sell.
